General Installation and Licensing Questions

Does Geomatica 10.1.1 currently support Microsoft Vista?

Is remote desktop access to Geomatica 10 supported?

I have installed the Geomatica 10.0.3 update on my Servermachine. It is a Windows operating system and I receive an error “mscoree.dll is not found” or “.Net Framework Inistialization Error” or “This application has failed to inistilize properly” when Geomatica is launched.

Can I run Geomatica 10 on a 64-bit Windows operating system?

Can I run Geomatica V10 and Geomatica V9.1 on the same computer when using a USB Sentinel Super Pro dongle?

How can I add the ImageWorks and XPace to the Geomatica V10 Toolbar?

Q: Does Geomatica 10.1.1 currently support Microsoft Vista?

A: No, Microsoft Vista is not currently supported. PCI has not run the software through a full build and development cycle. While we do not currently officially support Microsoft Vista, our early tests, along with customer feedback indicate the software will run with only minor issues. The known issues are as follows:

1) There are folder permission issues with PCI software after installation

2) Uninstall process is not removing all registry entries

It is anticipated that we will add support for this platform in the first patch of the upcoming Geomatica V10.2 release.

Q: I have installed the Geomatica 10.0.3 update on a Windows 2000 Server operating system and receive an error “mscoree.dll is not found” when Geomatica is launched.

A: This behavior occurs if the Microsoft .NET Framework is not installed on the computer. Applications written for the .NET Framework require that it be installed on the computer on which the application runs. Some windows machines comes with the .Net framekwork by default and some do not. For those windows machines that do not have the .NET framework a patch has been created to install it.

To resolve this issue, install the .NET Framework on the target computer. Instructions are as follows:

1.) Choose Windows Update from your windows start menu
2.) When the update page loads Select Custom
3.) Select Software(Optional)
4.) From the optional software updates lise select the .NET Framework 2.0 patch

Q: Can I run Geomatica 10 on a 64-bit Windows operating system?

A: As of March 7, 2006, Geomatica 10 has not been tested extensively on a 64-bit Windows XP operating system; however, we do not expect any specific problems with the functioning of our core software on this operating system. Currently, our WebServer Suite and our GeoRaster for Oracle products do not operate on a 64-bit Windows XP operating system. Our Geomatica 10.0.2 update, which will be available in June 2006, will officially support a 64-bit Windows XP operating system.

To run Geomatica 10 on a 64-bit Windows operating system, you must update your drivers after you have installed the software. The drivers can be found at

ftp://ftp.pcigeomatics.com/pub/support/windows/safenet/USB/usbdriver.zip

SafeNet only provides USB interlock support for a 64-bit Windows XP operating system; you may want to replace your parallel interlock for a USB interlock. Your sales representative is happy to assist you with the interlock exchange process. You can find your local sales representative at
http://www.pcigeomatics.com/contact/territories.html

*Please note there is a nominal charge of $100.00 for each exchanged interlock. A permanent code on a new interlock is not issued until the old interlock is received by PCI Geomatics.

Q: Can I run Geomatica V10 and Geomatica V9.1 on the same computer when using a USB Sentinel Super Pro dongle?

A: Due to a required upgrade of third party drivers, Geomatica V10 and Geomatica V9.1.8 for Windows are the only 2 versions that can be run on the same computer when a USB Sentinel Super Pro dongle is used.

NOTE: This does not apply to the parallel port version of the Sentinel Super Pro dongle. Geomatica 10 and all versions of 9.1 can be run on the same computer when this type of dongle is used. Geomatica V10 and V8 cannot be run on the same computer when using either version of the Sentinel Super Pro dongle. Geomatica V10 and all previous versions can be run on the same computer when using a Sentinel Pro dongle.

Geomatica V9.1.8 can be downloaded from the following location:
ftp://ftp.pcigeomatics.com/pub/support/v918/Windows/GeomaticaV918.exe

Geomatica V9.1.8 is full installation, not a patch. The basic installation instructions are included below. Please contact PCI Geomatics Customer Support if you encounter any problems - support@pcigeomatics.com

1. Backup Geomatica V9.1.x

Shut down all PCI software including the Geomatica Toolbar. If you are running a PCI V9 floating license server, shut down and remove the license server in the License Manager | Customize | Floating License Server Installation/ Operations

Backup or rename your existing Geomatica_V91 installation to prevent loss of data. Note that the V9.1.8 distribution is web based. To reduce the file size and download time, the demo data files and manuals have not been included in this version of the software. These have not changed from original V9.1 distribution.

2. Uninstall V9.1.x, then install V9.1.8

Run the V9.1.8 self-extracting executable "GeomaticaV918.exe". You will be requested to uninstall the existing version of Geomatica V9.1.x. Please do so. Once the uninstall is complete, re-run the V9.1.8 executable and install Geomatica V9.1.8.

During the installation, Geomatica V9.1.8 will query for the sentinel drivers
and run the sntsetup program to install the drivers. Accept the
default "full installation". If the driver setup program does not appear, proceed to step 4.

3. After the installation is complete, reboot your computer and check the CPU Id of the system in the License Manager - Customize | Get System information.

4. If you receive a "dongle not detected" or other interlock errors, run the following program : Geomatica_v91/sys/nt/lic/superpro/installer/sntsetup.exe

This is the 3rd party install that is called during the geomatica V9.1.8
installation. Follow sentinel instalationl instructions. You may be prompted to
update/remove - choose "Remove" and rerun to ensure that the most up-to-date drivers are installed and running.

5. Re-license the software using your Geomatica V9.1 license key.

6. If you are running a PCI V9 floating license server, install and start the license server in the License Manager | Customize | Floating License Server Installation/ Operations

Q: How can I add the ImageWorks and XPace to the Geomatica V10 Toolbar?

A: You can add the ImageWorks and XPace icons to the Geomatica V10 Toolbar by adding the following lines to the Geomatica preference file. The default location of this file is C:\Program Files\Geomatica_V100\etc\geomatica.prf

WorksIcon: "icoimgwk.bmp" "imageworks" "ImageWorks" "Group1"
WorksIcon: "icoxpace.bmp" "Xpace" "Xpace" "Group1"

Note that the "LXX" legacy license code is required to run these packages. GCPWorks is not available in the V10 release.
