What does the Mapping Center do?
The GeoCapacity Information System can access recent satellite images of Canada, correct them to the highest accuracy possible, and output digital maps and satellite pictures. These maps and images can be delivered in hard copy or over any browser to users across Canada and around the world.

Once the data and metadata are loaded into the Oracle Spatial 10g database, preprocessing tasks are automatically performed by PCI technology on the raw images which are then stored in the same database.
When a request is submitted to the Mapping Centre, it can retrieve the preloaded image from the database, whereby a complete map will automatically be generated and delivered to the client in minutes.The processed image can later be shared on the web via the iSmart technology
