Introduction to Geomatica

Introduction to Geomatica is the foundational course for Geomatica training. This course covers the PCI data model and introduces you to the main Geomatica components. Special emphasis is placed on helping users to become familiar with Geomatica's new viewing environment.

Objective

Course participants will learn the skills and tools required to:

  • Use the Geomatica viewing interface
  • Edit and collect vector data
  • Edit and apply image enhancements
  • Apply spatial filters
  • Edit and analyze training sites
  • Apply a supervised classification
  • Apply an unsupervised classification
  • Run image- and vector-processing algorithms using the Algorithm Librarian
  • Perform visual spatial modeling using the PCI Modeler
  • Create simple map output
  • Visualize data in 3-D using FLY!

Pre-requisites

No experience with PCI software is required. However, this course is also suitable to former users of PCI products who require in-depth training on the new Geomatica environment.
