PCI Geomatics offers new Geomatica 10 training courses

Richmond Hill, Ontario February 28, 2006: PCI Geomatics ® has added, updated, and restructured its Geomatica ® training courses to better suit the needs of both the beginner and the experienced user. Courses are offered at both Richmond Hill and Gatineau offices regularly or on-site at the user’s facilities. PCI Geomatics also offers customized training; with the user’s own data, customized training can explore the skills and tools the user needs to complete his or her geospatial projects with confidence and ease.

A Courses offered for Geomatica 10 are designed to aid the user through comprehensive instruction and hands-on lessons. The newest course offered by PCI Geomatics, Getting Results with Geomatica 10, guides existing Geomatica users through the new features and enhancements in Geomatica 10. Photogrammetry highlights include better tools for accuracy estimation and blunder detection, improved digital elevation model (DEM) editing tools, greater mosaicking flexibility, automatic image-to-image registration, and improved rational functions support for satellite imagery.

Geomatica I and II are designed for both new and existing users. Geomatica I is geared for the beginner, who can learn the various tools in Geomatica® Focus for geospatial data processing. The follow-up course, Geomatica II, is more advanced and continues to enhance the user’s data-processing skills in Focus, including multispectral image classification, atmospheric correction, spatial analysis, and thematic map creation. Participants can also explore the functionality of Geomatica® Modeler, a tool that visually develops automatic process flows and allows the user to work in a more efficient and time-saving environment.

In the Geomatica ® OrthoEngine ® course, users can learn everything from creating a project to task automation through Modeler. Users can also select application exercises that best represent their own data to ensure the information gained is thoroughly understood and can be implemented in their own work environment.

Courses to look for later in the year include a classification course, which will include tools from both Geomatica and eCognition, and a radar course that will highlight Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) analysis.
