eSpatial and PCI showcase Oracle based environment for the secure, near real time processing and delivery of geospatial data at major US Geospatial Intelligence show (GEOINT 2006)

Combined system addresses challenges faced by the intelligence community to process, store, augment and deliver near real-time geospatial data on a potentially global scale, as an integral part of modern analysis, tracking and security applications.

Orlando, Florida, eSpatial booth # 926 & PCI booth # 928
November 14, 2006
:

eSpatial, a leader in enterprise open standards-based geospatial software development, and PCI Geomatics, a leader in image-centric software and solutions are showcasing their combined technology to address many of the key challenges for the Geospatial Intelligence community.

With the advent of vast amounts of geospatial data including satellite imagery, aerial photography, vector data and real time GPS and RFID feeds, there is a growing challenge to process, store and deliver this data to modern intelligence applications in a secure, scalable and easily accessed environment. Traditional technologies based on separate analysis workstations and proprietary data formats are proving inflexible, expensive and difficult to deploy to a wider analysis community.

Building on the successful integration of their combined technologies, eSpatial and PCI Geomatics address these challenges using Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards built on Oracle technology platform.
At GEOINT 2006 both companies are showcasing their technology in a live demonstration of a homeland security application to acquire, process, store and analyze geospatial data over a thin client interface. The combined system illustrates:

  • Near real time acquisition and storage of acquired satellite imagery and other data
  • Central storage in an Oracle database and integration with other data
  • Automated processing and enhancement of imagery and other data
  • Secure, role based and controlled access
  • Open standards-based web services delivery via thin and thick clients
  • Data tracking and augmentation including thin client updates
  • Real-time integration with other OGC web services for the integration of third party imagery.

The integration of these capabilities can also be seen in the USGIF interoperability demonstration that will be showcased at the GEOINT 2006 conference on Wednesday Nov 15th at 3:30pm. To see a live demonstration of these capabilities please visit the PCI or eSpatial stand in the exhibition hall at any time.

“This combination of eSpatial and PCI technology addresses many of the needs of the Intelligence Community” commented Trevor Taylor, Director of Solution Sales at PCI Geomatics. “The system can be tailored to specific application and data requirements and is not restricted to a single use – thus making it possible to rapidly develop and deploy new applications in a cost effective and reliable manner.”

“eSpatial is delighted to be showcasing Geospatial interoperability and integration with PCI” said Eamon Walsh, CTO of eSpatial. “The use of enterprise grade and open standards based technology allows geospatial data and services to be disseminated to a wider user base than when using traditional GIS-style approaches. Mainstream enterprise IT challenges such as scalability, reliability and security are automatically catered together with the ability to add new spatial data and edit data over the web to react to changing requirements.”
