Newest Geomatica® Software Now Available for LINUX

Richmond Hill, Ontario - February 24, 2004: PCI Geomatics® is pleased to announce that Geomatica 9 Version 9.1, the company's newest "all-in-one" geospatial software release, is now available for Linux users. Geomatica support for RedHat Linux represents a continued commitment by the company to develop leading geospatial software for all commonly used operating systems, including various popular forms of Linux. PCI Geomatics has tested their newest Geomatica technology on SuSE and other Linux adaptations with success, and continues to dedicate resources to Linux development for future expansion.

In preparation for wider Linux support in 2004, PCI Geomatics is building and testing Geomatica technology using dedicated Linux kernel models. This will allow PCI Geomatics to rapidly support other new and existing Linux variations, including Linux Mandrake and Linux Cartman. In addition to the Linux operating system, the Geomatica product line is available for Sun Solaris 8 and Solaris 9, IRIX SGI 6.5.15, as well as Microsoft® Windows® NT, 2000, XP, 98, and ME operating systems.

"By supporting Linux users, we are meeting the geospatial software needs of an important and growing user market," states David Stanley, Vice-President of Research and Development for PCI Geomatics. "PCI Geomatics is dedicated to delivering the best in geospatial software solutions to the geomatics market for the widest possible selection of operating systems, including Linux and UNIX based platforms." PCI Geomatics began shipping the Microsoft® Windows® release of Geomatica 9 Version 9.1 to customers in January 2004.

Geomatica 9 Version 9.1 improves on a solid performance reputation established by its predecessor. Additions found in the latest Geomatica build upon the software's remote sensing processing, GIS capabilities, hyperspectral tools, and user productivity practices. Advanced remote sensing capabilities seamlessly share data with spatial analysis, photogrammetry, and cartographic processing tools without needing to move data to other programs. Processing can begin with raw image or spatial data and end with accurately corrected data, extracted spatial information, analytical reports, online maps, and more. A completely integrated solution, Geomatica 9 Version 9.1 presents superior geomatics capabilities and productivity enhancing features within a single unified environment.
