OhioView purchase eCognition statewide site license

Richmond Hill, Ontario - November 19, 2004 - PCI Geomatics, a global distributor of Definiens Imaging's eCognition software is pleased to announce the signing of a three-year eCognition educational site license with OhioView, a statewide program that focuses on satellite remote sensing data and technologies in support of applied research, K-16 education, workforce development, and technology transfer in Ohio. Through this agreement 150 licenses of eCognition Professional, the world's only software for contextual image classification, will be distributed across the 12 member universities of OhioView. Support services and software upgrades are included in the arrangement.

The subscription license was negotiated by PCI Geomatics (Canada), the non-exclusive global distributor of eCognition software.

"Our partners and we continually work to increase awareness of the benefits of our unique technology for satellite image classification. Site licenses allow us to bring our technology to an even wider audience of tomorrow's remote sensing professionals."

OhioView joins a growing list of similar initiatives and organizations turning to eCognition for advanced image classification solutions. Definiens Imaging also has enterprise software license agreements with both Federal and State Government agencies worldwide and works with many of the leading corporations in the earth observation industry.

Since its introduction in 2000, eCognition has been used in colleges and universities throughout the world for teaching and research. eCognition academic licenses can be purchased at discounts starting at 80 percent off the list price.
