PCI Geomatics® Scores Recognized in
2004 NGA (NIMA) Pathfinder Evaluation

Richmond Hill, Ontario - January 28, 2003: Recognized internationally for  professional earth observation based geomatics solutions, PCI Geomatics is pleased to announce that the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Pathfinder Electronic Light Table (ELT) competition results listed Geomatica 9 among the top entries in this category. Although not a traditional ELT, Geomatica 9 scored well based on its orthorectification and mosaicking performance, multi-level display abilities, format support, and overall geomatics capabilities in remote sensing, GIS, photogrammetry, and map production.

The benefits of this competition are already being introduced into current PCI Geomatics development, including the Geomatica product line. The NGA (formerly NIMA - National Imagery and Mapping Agency) Pathfinder Technical review team's comments were appreciative of Geomatica's rigorous photogrammetric package and its mosaicking and colour balancing performance. Also commended were Geomatica's sensor support capacity, the flexible Geomatica Software Development Kit that allows package customization, and Geomatica's extensive multi-layer display abilities, which Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) reportedly felt serves as a very competent application in a GIS environment. Evaluators noted the additional benefit of PCI Geomatics' 3rd party relationship with ELT developer Sensor Systems.

"We enrolled to see and learn," notes Arnold Hougham, Vice-President of Sales and Product Marketing for PCI Geomatics. "We are pleased that our proven strengths were recognized by the NGA Pathfinder team." In January, PCI Geomatics presented the newest update of Geomatica 9, the company's complete geospatial solution. Geomatica 9 Version 9.1 improves on the performance reputation established by its predecessor for remote sensing, photogrammetry, GIS, and map production.

The Pathfinder program is a process that provides a critical link between commercial and government developers of technologies, and the imagery and geospatial analyst users. The Pathfinder process identifies and assesses tools and technologies to support the mission of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to provide relevant and timely imagery, imagery intelligence, and geospatial products and services to consumers.

"The Pathfinder trials provide a very meaningful process for evaluating commercial
geomatics tools in a suitable test environment," notes David Stanley, Vice-President of Research and Development for PCI Geomatics. "This is merely a beginning: we are happy we did well, but are now preparing to improve dramatically."
