PCI Geomatics® Presents New Advanced
Pan Sharpening Algorithms in Latest Geomatica®
Richmond Hill, Ontario – February 26, 2003: PCI Geomatics is now offering the most advanced Pan Sharpening algorithms within its latest release of Geomatica, the tightly integrated "all-in-one" image-centric geomatics software solution. Developed by the University of New Brunswick and Professor Yun Zhang, these algorithms bring panchromatic and multispectral imagery together to create a high-resolution color image.
Pan sharpening algorithms 'fuse' the high-resolution panchromatic and low-resolution multispectral imagery together to create a high-resolution color image. The high-resolution color image preserves the original color fidelity and allows for better visualization and interpretation. When coupled with PCI Geomatics high precision satellite technology and new atmospheric correction capabilities, highly accurate orthorectified pan-sharpened imagery can be produced from a wide variety of sensors. Many new satellite sensors provide high-resolution panchromatic (black and white) imagery along with lower resolution multispectral (color) imagery, making pan-sharpening support within Geomatica product a high-demand feature and giving PCI Geomatics a strong competitive advantage in the market.
Geomatica is PCI Geomatics’ powerful and complete geospatial information software solution, with strengthened raster and vector image-centric processing capabilities. A one-stop "do-it-all" answer, Geomatica is built with the function and flexibility to meet all of tomorrow’s demands for the Remote Sensing, Spatial Analysis, Cartographic, and Photogrammetry professional worlds.
"We are very impressed by the new pan-sharpening technology, which is clearly leading edge and very exciting." states David Stanley, Vice-President of Research and Development for PCI Geomatics. "We have provided a lot of new technology in our latest release, and this is definitely one of the features that our customers want to know more about, especially those clients using QuickBird, IKONOS, Landsat, and SPOT 5 data."
