PCI Geomatics® Announces New Appointments

Richmond Hill, Ontario – March 21, 2003: PCI Geomatics is pleased to announce two new leadership appointments. Dr. Richard Pollock has accepted the roll of Director of Research and Development at PCI Geomatics’ Richmond Hill facility, and Arnold Hougham has accepted the position of Vice-President of Sales and Product Marketing.

Richard Pollock joined PCI Geomatics in September 2001 with over 20 years of experience distributed across the remote sensing, GIS, machine vision, and direct georeferencing sciences. His practiced knowledge spans technology applications, system development, research and design, and project management. Richard’s business acumen was first distinguished through the creation and operation of a successful aerial survey business that utilized innovative digital sensing techniques. Richard has an undergraduate degree in landscape architecture from the University of Toronto, a Master's degree from Concordia University, and completed his Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of British Columbia in 1996.

Since joining PCI Geomatics, Richard Pollock has been a champion for product development throughout the company. Richard’s insight and guidance have been key elements for reinforcing PCI Geomatics development initiatives in hyperspectral data analysis technology, the integration of a new data compression technique developed by the Canadian Space Agency, and other enhancements that are being included within the forthcoming release of Geomatica®.

Arnold Hougham, as Vice-President of Sales and Product Marketing, will be leading the overall worldwide sales and marketing efforts for PCI Geomatics. A graduate from the University of Waterloo Geography Masters degree program, Arnold Hougham has been with PCI Geomatics since 1989 and has been involved in product sales for over 13 years. Before joining PCI Geomatics, Arnold Hougham led remote sensing image analysis operations for the Provincial Government of Alberta in Canada. Prior to this, Arnold lectured geography and remote sensing courses at the University of Saskatchewan, and traveled throughout Saskatchewan performing remote sensing data analysis for the Saskatchewan Research Council.

Arnold has been instrumental in promoting PCI Geomatics products by helping customers get the product solutions they need, while strengthening relationships with distribution channel members throughout the world. Arnold Hougham has been recognized by the Canadian Remote Sensing Society for partnership building in the remote sensing community.
