MIT, Notre Dame Sign 5 Year PCI Geomatics
Educational
Site License Agreements
Richmond Hill, Ontario – July 30, 2003: PCI Geomatics® is pleased to announce the signing of two separate five-year unlimited PCI Geomatics educational site licenses with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and with the University of Notre Dame. This agreement entitles both the University of Notre Dame and MIT to receive unlimited licenses of the Geomatica Total Educational Suite for 5 years across multiple departments, campus-wide, and on multiple supported platforms. Support services and software upgrades are included in the arrangements, and annual license renewal is automatic and effortless.
"We are now sold on Geomatica's DEM-extraction capabilities," states Dr. Kelin Whipple, Associate Professor, MIT, Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Science. "Geomatica soundly outperformed [competitor products] and produced quite satisfying results."
Access to PCI Geomatics technical support services and automatic software upgrades is included throughout the 5-year period. In addition, the number of licenses at each institution may be increased at anytime during the lifetime of this agreement at no additional cost.
"The high geospatial processing demands at MIT and the University of Notre Dame are a suitable proving environment for Geomatica technology," states Archie Pedden, Education Account manager for PCI Geomatics. "We are currently studying opportunities for a special Regional Training Event at MIT in August, 2003, and at several others academic locations later this year."
The Geomatica Total Educational Suite from PCI Geomatics is attractive to all educational institutions, especially those with many geospatial software users who need remote sensing, GIS, and mapping software for research. Offering high value for geospatial productivity solutions, with flexible financing, the Geomatica Total Educational Suite can be shared across many departments. The University of California, Berkeley, California Institute of Technology (Caltech), the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS), University of Waterloo, and Texas A & M University (TAMU) are just a few of the educational institutions currently taking advantage of PCI Geomatics’ 5-year educational licensing offer.
