User Driven, Standards Based Interoperability
For Earth Observation (EO) data, 'Interoperability' means combining many pieces of information from multiple and diverse sources quickly and easily. In application fields such as Disaster Management this means saving lives.
GETIS was a two year, multinational project that identified user needs and promoted the application of interoperable architectures and standards based software components to provide critical information where and when needed. The ultimate objective was to link user communities, data and service providers and to aid the evolution from data-centric information islands towards an interoperable, pan-European Information Network.
The Result: A proof of concept to drive Interoperability forwards for Disaster Management and other EO fields.
