Job Description: SOFTWARE DEVELOPER – LEVEL 3 - DATABASE SYSTEMS

FUNCTIONAL AREA: PRODUCT & TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT

Location: RICHMOND HILL, ON OR GATINEAU, QUEBEC

SCOPE OF POSITION

  • Participates in the requirements analysis and design of a system comprised of multiple software modules and classes
  • Identifies specific programming tasks to be delegated to Level 1 and 2 developers
  • Is available to respond to technical questions and concerns from Level 1 and 2 developers and exercises judgment in deciding which of these questions and concerns require the attention of more senior developers
  • Responsible for software design, implementation, and maintenance tasks that are deemed by the supervisor to be too complex for Level 1 and 2 developers
  • Works with non-PCI developers as required, and may be required to travel in order to do so
  • Participates in giving advice and guidance to Level 1 and 2 developers, and in orienting and training new developers as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree or College diploma (minimum 3 years) with a concentration on software development
  • Minimum of 3 years of software development work experience
  • Competent in developing software with C++. Good understanding of database management system and database design concepts and a minimum of 2 years of experience in developing applications with relational database management systems, preferably Oracle and PostgreSQL
  • Thorough command of spoken and written English
  • Effective in, and enjoys working in, teams

ASSETS

  • Familiarity with the Python programming language
  • Experience in developing multiplatform (Windows and Linux) software
  • Familiarity with spatial extensions to database management systems (e.g., Oracle Spatial and PostGIS)
  • Experience in developing image processing, GIS, or CAD software
  • Security Clearance preferred (Enhanced Reliability or greater)
