Tape I/O Package

Computer-compatible tape (CCT) is a standard medium for distribution and archiving of image data. The PACE Tape I/O package provides a method of accessing that data.

CDs are becoming more prevalent for distribution and archiving of image data. PCI has a number of CD reading programs available, mainly in the satellite orthorectification packages. Follow the link to CD Input Programs for more information.

Since several ``standard'' file formats exist, PACE provides several different programs to read data to the database or video display, and programs to write the data back onto tape.

This package includes programs which:

transfer image, elevation, land use and vector data from tape to database (MIx);
transfer image data from tape to video display (MVx);
transfer image data from database to tape (IMx);
read header information from tapes (MSH, MAGREP and MBUREP);
print report of tape record and file structure (MAGSTRU);
back up and restore database and text files to and from tape (MAGWR and MAGRD).
