TAPEINF -- Tape Report

Displays the information on the SCSI tape devices attached to the system to the report device and allows you to set the current tape device.

Note: TAPEINF only runs on Windows and Windows NT systems.

PARAMETERS

TAPEINF is controlled by the following global parameters:

Name Prompt Count Type
REPORT Report Mode: TERM/OFF/filename 1-64 Char

REPORT

Specifies the file to which to append the generated report.

 EASI>REPORT="filename"
Note: The following names have special meaning:

EASI>REPORT="TERM" | generates reports on your terminal
 EASI>REPORT="DISK" | generates reports on file "IMPRPT.LST"
EASI>REPORT="OFF" | usually cancels report generation, but
                        | TAPEINF forces REPORT to terminal output
A report device (REPORT) must be selected. If report device is OFF, it defaults to the terminal. When the report is directed to the terminal, the report will be sent to the terminal one page at a time. If the report consists of more than one page, the user is prompted to either view the next page (<cr>), scroll the remaining pages ([G]o) or exit to the command level (e[X]it).

DETAILS

TAPEINF lists the following information for each SCSI tape device:

The Tape Name is the name of the tape device. It is used to set the value of the tape device parameter(s) MT#.

The Vendor Name is the name of the manufacturer of the tape device.

The Device Type reports back Tape/sequential access device device for tapes.

The SCSI Level reports the SCSI standard supported by the tape.

The SCSI ID reports what SCSI address the tape is connected to.

The Access Status reports whether the tape is available for Reading or for Reading and Writing. If the tape is write protected then Read access will be presented.

The Density reports what density the tape is currently set to. For single density tape devices, this field will report: Device default. For multiple density tape devices, the density in bits per mm

will be reported.

Following this listing is a short listing of only the tape names. You may select a tape device by setting the number of it in the list. This will set the MT#: variable pointed to by MT00 to SCSI# where # is the SCSI id. Thus, if the tape device has a SCSI Id of 5 and MT00 points to MT1 then MT1 will set to SCSI5.

EXAMPLE

The following is the output for a single tape configuration:

 TAPEINF V5.3 EASI/PACE 18:08 15-Jun-94
