Program progress can be monitored by printing the percentage of
completed processing in odometer fashion. The system parameter,
MONITOR, controls this activity:

EASI>MONITOR="OFF" | turn monitor OFF (recommended if
| running in batch/background mode
EASI>MONITOR= | defaults to "ON"
