LIMITATIONS
There is an upper limit on the number of complex lines RTV can
handle. If this limit is exceeded, internal buffers will overflow
and RTV will stop executing with an error message. If this occurs,
any lines which have been saved up to this point will be available
in the vector segment. Note that it is the size and complexity of
the areas in the image channel being outlined, and not the overall
size of the image, which determines whether or not the program runs
to completion.
If RTV is unable to handle the entire image at once, due to internal
buffer limitations, the image can still be vectorized by
partitioning the image using DBIW. RTV can then be applied to
successive subsets of the image. Each execution of RTV will generate
a new vector segment. If desired, the resulting vector segments can
then be merged into a single vector segment using the program
VECMERG.
