Image/Layer Data
The basic data that MODEL works with is the pixels in image channels
on the PCIDSK database. This data can be 8-bit integer, 16-bit
signed or unsigned integer or 32-bit real. Though channels on the
database are called `image channels', this is only a convention. In
fact, it is often more useful to think of a database as a series of
registered data layers. The following chart lists some of the types
of possible data layers that can be held in an image channel.
