To open a remote OGDI data server, in the file selector click on 'Choose Other' and pick OGDI from the 'driver' list. Then enter a URL in the layer field. For example enter "gltp://www.globalgeo.com/vrf/i:/scenery/data/vm2alv2/texash". The format of the URL is "gltp:" specifying "Geographic Library Transfer Protocol". After the double slash is the URL of the server(www.globalgeo.com). After the single slash is the OGDI driver name (vrf). The final part is the data name (i:/scenery/data/vm2alv2/texash). For remote CubeSTOR data the URL could be "gltp://alpha.cubewerx.com/cwogdi/test/test@CWDEV&attributes". For local data the URL could be "gltp:/rpf/f:/polk/cib5/rpf", i.e. there is no server name in this case. Opening CIB data (or any other OGDI local data) by specifying the URL is equivalent to opening the file as specified for CIB data above. There is an optional part to the OGDI URL specifying the actual layer to open. For example "gltp://alpha.cubewerx.com/cwogdi/demo/demo@demo&attributes::Line:POLBNDL_1M@BOUNDARIES" specifies to open the line layer POLBNDL_1M from the BOUNDARIES coverage (group of layers) from the CubeSTOR server. The error "Unable to connect to dispatcher gltpd" means that OGDI could not make a two-way connection to the server.
