PseudoColour Tables (PCT)

The PCT segment contains a pseudocolour table. This is an array of 256 RGB colours used to assign colour values to 8-bit images. The PCT always contains exactly 256 entries, whether they are all needed or not. File formats such as TIFF which may have colour tables with less than 256 colours normally have the remainder of the colour table filled up with zeros (black).

There is no support for translucent or transparent entries in the table.
