The type of classification may be selected by using the radio buttons at the top. Supervised configurations need a training channel set but unsupervised configurations do not.
Below the radio buttons is a text field where you may enter a one line description of your session. This is used to identify the session later.
A table indicating the usage of channels is displayed below the description. This table uses columns which indicate the visual channels (Red,Green, and Blue), input channels, training channels (in the case of supervised classification), and a result channel where the results of the classification will be stored. The right most column contains the non-editable description of the channel. You may change selections by clicking on the table itself.
The Red, Green, and Blue column indicate which channels are to be displayed during the editing of training sites for supervised classification. The are also optionally used when class editing or performing an aggregation.
The input channels indicate which channels are to be used as input into the classifiers. A minimum of two and a maximum of sixteen input channels must be selected. Clicking on the column header where the words "Input Channel" appear will alternately indicate whether ALL or None of the channels are to be used for the input channels. This allows multiple channels to be selected quickly.
The training channel is used to hold all your training sites. It is only displayed if the classification type is supervised.
The output channel is the channel to which the classifier will write out its results. Although selecting the same channel for both the training channel and the output channel is not forbidden, it is not recommended since you will lose your training sites.
Note that the selected training channel and output channel cannot be used as an input channel.
You can change the configuration at any time during the classification process by selecting the ``Session Config'' item in the Classify menu.
There are five buttons at the bottom of the panel:
If the configuration being displayed is not valid, then this button will appear grayed out.
