Class Lists

Various classification tools have the ability to display a list of classes. This section describes the user interaction available with these lists.

The list will contain at least four columns representing the value, name, colour and description of the class. Normally, these fields are editable in which case the table appears to be white. In cases in which the list is not editable, the background will appear gray.

You may edit these values by clicking inside the cell with the left mouse button and then editing the text. Clicking in the colour cell will display a colour selector window from which you can choose your colour.

The list may be sorted in ascending order by value, name, colour or description. To sort the list, simply click in the header of the column you wish to sort.

Occasionally, the column headers for the Name and Colour field will be displayed in red. This is not an error but rather a warning that two or more classes share the same name or colour. Having duplicate names and colours may create some confusion in the classification process.

Duplicate names will appear in red in the class list and duplicate colours will have an ``X'' in the colour swatch.

You can isolate which classes have the duplicate by sorting by either name or colour. In this way, the values will then appear next to each other. You may then change one or both of the values to eliminate the duplicate entry.

The class list may also display other columns. These columns are described in the help topic of the associated tool.
