Title: PCI Geomatics Presents Footsteps and Futures - May 2004

As part of efforts to meet Canada's commitment to the Kyoto Protocol, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan ), Canadian Forest Service (CFS) , has developed methods to monitor and map deforestation. To increase mapping efficiency, the CFS required a customized software solution that linked the Geomatica Focus interface with the ArcGIS ArcMap interface.

These two interfaces are currently used by the Deforestation Monitoring Team, located at NRCan's Pacific Forestry Centre, and its partners to view different band combinations of 2-date satellite imagery (in Geomatica Focus) and for deforestation event feature class (point, line, and polygon layers within a Geodatabase) digitizing, attribution, and quality control (in ArcMap).

PCI Geomatics' Customization Services Team developed an interface link tool that when selected, in either ArcMap or Geomatica Focus, updates the cursor position and graphical display in both interfaces simultaneously
