QuickBird Rigorous Sensor Model -
Released By PCI Geomatics FIRST!

Commercial support of the much anticipated QuickBird Rigorous Sensor Model is ready at PCI Geomatics! After several months of cooperative development and testing, DigitalGlobe?, PCI Geomatics?, and the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS, Natural Resources Canada), announced the support of the QuickBird Rigorous Sensor Model within PCI Geomatics software. This is the first commercial software support of the QuickBird Rigorous Model, developed by Dr. Thierry Toutin at CCRS, which allows the orthorectification of QuickBird Basic Imagery Products with the highest degree of accuracy.

The QuickBird Rigorous Sensor Model provides exceptionally more consistent accuracy over the earlier Rational Polynomial Coefficient model and is considered to be a more reliable method, especially over non-flat areas. PCI Geomatics announced its support of the QuickBird Rational Polynomial Coefficient (RPC) model earlier this year. With the QuickBird Rigorous Sensor Model, PCI Geomatics software users and DigitalGlobe customers have a more robust option.
