| PCI
Geomatics Signs Agreement During Team Canada Mission |
|
Richmond
Hill, Ontario - February 13, 2001:
PCI Geomatics is pleased to announce that the National GIS Key Lab of
the China Scientific Academy has selected PCI Geomatics to become
their principle geomatics software solution provider. PCI Geomatics
will supply the academy with a full complement of their image
processing software products in order to satisfy their wide-ranging geomatics
needs. Among the requirements for making their decision were the
abilities to effectively function with a diverse selection of data
formats, provide strong product support, and offer general
compatibility with a wide range of other software.
The
National GIS Key Lab of the China Scientific Academy is the leading
institute for geomatics applications and research in China. With over
ten years of experience in remote sensing, cartography, photogrammetry,
and GIS applications, they found that PCI Geomatics software solutions
and customer support services best met their overall requirements.

| Environment Canada Uses PCI Geomatics Software to
help Map Species at Risk in Canada |
Environment
Canada has built a website "Map Search for
Species at Risk in Canada" to help find species at risk in a given area in
Canada. The site maps the general distribution of species at risk in Canada as
identified in the status reports prepared for the Committee on the Status of Endangered
Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC).

species at risk! Visit the SPANS WebServer product page at: http://www.pcigeomatics.com/product_ind/spweb.html |

| Look
what CCRS is doing with our Software! |
|
The
Canadian Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS) has created an Image
Showcase web page that highlights several image mosaics and maps of
Canada. The images were
created using several of PCI Geomatics' highly acclaimed software
packages. Check out what
CCRS is doing with our software!
Radar
Mosaic of Canada:
CCRS
and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) have collaborated with
contributions from RADARSAT International (RSI), to create an ortho-rectified
RADARSAT-1 mosaic of Canada. The ortho-rectification, mosaicking and
radiometric matching were carried out using PCI
Geomatics' EASI/PACE image analysis software.
View the mosaic at: http://www.ccrs.nrcan.gc.ca/ccrs/imgserv/shwcse/rsatmosa.jpg.
Read how the mosaic was produced at: http://www.ccrs.nrcan.gc.ca/ccrs/tekrd/radarsat/mosaic/methode.html.
Land
Cover Map of Canada:
CCRS
together with the Canadian Forest Service, have produced a map of the
land cover distribution of Canada. ?Generated using 1995 NOAA
Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer data, the new map shows the
distribution of 31 different land cover types across Canada: 12
classes of forest, 10 of open land, 6 for mosaicked and developed
land, and three other types. The nominal map resolution is 1km.?
PCI Geomatics' EASI/PACE and Image
Works Software was used to derive the data for the
classification of the Land Cover Map.
View the map at: http://www.ccrs.nrcan.gc.ca/ccrs/imgserv/shwcse/lc95v1.jpg.

Montreal in 3D:
This RADARSAT-SAR
3D chromo mosaic over Montreal used
PCI Geomatics' Orthoengine software
for ortho image generation, mosaicking, radiometric transformation and
colour-coding integration. View
the mosaic at: http://www.ccrs.nrcan.gc.ca/ccrs/imgserv/shwcse/mont.jpg.
Read the technical notes at: http://www.ccrs.nrcan.gc.ca/ccrs/tekrd/rd/ana/chromo/chromoe.html.
Terrain Relief
of Canada:
?Chromo-stereoscopy?
was used to create the 3-D display. ?Depth is encoded into an image
by means of colour, and depth perception is produced by means of thin
optics, the Chroma-DepthTM
glasses, which decode the colour and act like thick glass prisms.?
PCI Geomatics software technology
was used to radiometrically transform and colour-code the
integration of the NOAA-AVHRR and DEM.
View the image at: http://www.ccrs.nrcan.gc.ca/ccrs/imgserv/shwcse/chromcan.jpg.
Read the technical notes at: http://www.ccrs.nrcan.gc.ca/ccrs/tekrd/rd/ana/chromo/chromoe.html.
The Great Lakes
Watershed:
CCRS developed a proto-type mosaicking workstation to generate
the Great Lakes Watershed Mosaic. The workstation proto-type contained
many generic components including the auto mosaicking capability found
within PCI Geomatics' OrthoEngine Software.
View the mosaic at: http://www.ccrs.nrcan.gc.ca/ccrs/imgserv/shwcse/glkmosi.jpg.
Read the technical notes at:
http://www.ccrs.nrcan.gc.ca/ccrs/imgserv/shwcse/tnmsse.html.
Vancouver
Island, British Columbia:
The geocoding of the radar scenes for the Vancouver Island mosaic was done using a
simulation-based procedure developed at CCRS. This procedure is part of PCI Geomatics' RADARSOFT
package.
