"Unlocking the Potential for Landsat 7 Data" by Dr. Philip Cheng, Dr.
Thierry Toutin, and Dr. Victor Tom - EOM February 2000
----------------------------------------------------------------------

"...I enjoyed your article in the February EOM. As Landsat 7 Program Manager
for the USGS, I hope (and believe) that the Landsat 7 data policy (cost of
reproduction, no redistribution restrictions, etc.) will spawn new
applications and innovation throughout the remote sensing business,
including research such as yours, proliferation of operational applications
throughout the business, and growth of the value-added industry. Thanks
again for making the utility of Landsat 7 more visible."

R.J. Thompson
Landsat 7 Program Manager
U.S. Geological Survey
EROS Data Center

OrthoEngine 7.0 Support for Space Imaging IKONOS Data
-----------------------------------------------------

Space Imaging distributes IKONOS data in different levels. The lowest
accuracy is the Geo product, which has 50m positional accuracy. It has not
been corrected for terrain displacement. This product is already
geometrically corrected, and therefore cannot be used for further
orthorectification or DEM extraction. OrthoEngine can be used for
mosaicking this data. Optionally, GCPs can be added, and a polynomial or
thin-plate spline model can be employed to improve the accuracy of the
imagery.

Read how OrthoEngine 7.0 supports IKONOS data at:
http://www.pcigeomatics.com/support/FAQ_oe.html#IKONOS.

FLY! is a powerful terrain visualization tool which drapes imagery over DEM
data to create 3-D perspectives scenes in near real-time. An intuitive
point and click user interface enables you to control flight speed,
direction, elevation and perspective parameters interactively during flight.
New features allow for GIS vector overlays and fogging to simulate adverse
weather conditions.

Unlike other packages, FLY! does not require special hardware to operate yet
generates near real-time fly throughs, and uses satellite or airborne
imagery to create the most realistic landscapes.

To request a free evaluation copy of our FLY! software, complete and submit
the form located at:
http://www.pcigeomatics.com/freeware/fly_eval_form.html.
