PCI Geomatics Software Supports Oracle8i Spatial

Richmond Hill, Ontario - December 7th, 1999: PCI Geomatics announces support
for Oracle8i(r) Spatial within the full suite of the PCI Geomatics product
line.

Oracle8i Spatial is the leading technology for spatial data management.
Designed specifically as an Internet development and deployment platform,
Oracle8i technology is a high performance and multi-threaded platform for
serving up distributed databases in multi-user environments. This technology
will become a major part of PCI Geomatics' enterprise-wide data warehousing
solutions. Oracle8i Spatial now allows users and application developers to
seamlessly integrate their vector and raster data into enterprise
applications, while fully leveraging the scalability, reliability, and
performance of the Oracle8i Internet Platform. This makes Oracle8i Spatial
the natural choice for PCI Geomatics software support.

Oracle GeoImage, a component of Oracle8i Spatial, is a scaleable and robust
solution for managing georeferenced image data in an Object Relational
Database Management System (ORDBMS). The geoimage handling capabilities of
Oracle8i Spatial are specifically designed to manage very large warehouses
of georeferenced imagery. It provides a scaleable platform to handle
terabytes of imagery data and to provide concurrent access to hundreds of
users.

Oracle GeoImage is designed to meet the needs of three major usage patterns:

* It enables traditional GIS and remote sensing application users to manage
their imagery using a secure and robust ORDBMS.
* It provides a platform for storing, indexing, querying, and delivering
georeferenced imagery through the Internet, corporate Intranets, and
e-commerce systems.
